2022-2023 Extra-Curricular Activity Schedule (More to come!)
VIOLIN
Violin Lessons - This class is an introduction to violin playing in a group setting. Emphasis will be given to proper posture of the body, the head (violin hold), right hand (bow hand), and left hand (fingers, wrist, arm). Instrument care, and history and appreciation of stringed instruments and western classical music will be incorporated into the class, as well. (Expectation alert: Stringed instrument playing requires much patience in the production of skill, tone, intonation, and ability to play actual music!)
Tuesdays from 3:15-4pm
Grades 4-8
Session 1 - (13 classes) 9/6-12/13 (No class 11/8 & 11/22)
Session 2 - (17 classes) 1/10-5/16 (No class 4/4 & 4/11)
Fees - $15 per class. Violin rental for Session 1 - $100 / Session 2 - $125. ($25/month)
Sibling discount would apply to classes only, not violin rentals.

LOGIC

WEDNESDAYS: 3:30pm to 4:40pm
$75/child
CHOIR
In these classes students will learn basic vocal skills, basic musicianship skills, basic Latin, and general appreciation for traditional sacred music. Each session will end with at least one performance. There may be opportunities to sing at the TLM at St. James at Sag Bridge.
Advent Session (6 weeks) 11/2/22-12/14/22
This session will focus on learning sacred Christmas music, adding a bit of the study of harmony.
Winter Session (8 weeks) 1/11/23-3/1/23
This session will focus on sacred music in rounds. The emphasis will be on singing in harmony.
Spring Session (8 weeks) 3/15/23-5/17/23
This session will focus on learning sacred Marian hymns, as well as sacred Easter hymns. There will be more complex signing in two and three-part harmonies.

Suzanne Rickman holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from DePaul University (BM’89). She has extensive training in the Suzuki Method of Violin Pedagogy, and has worked with hundreds of students of all ages for the past 30+ years, teaching privately, as well as for various Chicago-area music schools, and many summer music camps around the country. She is excited to utilize and combine her experience working with children, teaching music, and her love for traditional music into a beautiful children’s choir for Everest School.
SCIENCE CLUB
w/ Mr. Rob Spang

MONDAYS: 3:20pm to 4:45pm
The purpose of science club is to collaborate on various short and long-term projects and investigations into a variety of topics, and have a super fun time doing so. The model we are using is that of a graduate school, with a Principal Investigator (Rob Spang) and a number of students conducting research on a number of topics under my direction. It is expected that each science club participant will produce and present a Regional Science Fair quality project and compete at the IJAS Region 9 Science Fair in Feb./March. | Cost: $180 /year | Questions? email [email protected]

Please pick up your child by the playground. If you're running late, your child will be sent to aftercare.
